Every day we see seemingly endless suffering and grief, but also incredible dignity and strength in the way the Japanese people are battling through this tragedy. Here’s your chance to do something about it! You can dedicate one of your runs to helping Japan and donate the number of miles you run in pounds (or other currency) to the Red Cross Tsunami Appeal. You can do all this at: www.runforJapan.com, a new fund-raising website set up by my friend, Martin Yelling, which I am supporting. And please let your fellow runners know, so we can raise a lot and support the disaster relief and reconstruction effort in Japan. I am currently injured so I’ve walked for Japan instead of running! So anyone out there who can’t or won’t run, please walk instead. 27 March 2011 Chris Pickering - OUCCC Blue (1998) writes: Chris Pickering is an old OUCCC member, earning his blue in the victorious blue cross country team of 1998. He spent 5 years living in Japan, where he met his wife. He's been devastated by the disaster that's unfolding in Japan at the moment and has decided to raise money for ShelterBox, a UK charity that is providing emergency boxes for Japan and the hundreds of thousands of refugees at the moment. Fortunately his immediate family and friends are all alive although some of them are still in emergency shelters. He'll be running the Edinburgh Marathon in May and is using this to raise funds through his justgiving site at www.justgiving.com/Chris-Pickering. So far he's got over £1,500 but would obviously appreciate any support that he can get. Please feel free to forward this message to any friends and colleagues. For further details, please contact Chris. 13 March OUCCC 2000s Old Gits finish eighth at Teddy Hall Relays. The 1990s Old Gits finish 12th.
